Der Free Manga Day ist ein jährlich stattfindender Aktionstag des deutschsprachigen Manga-Marktes, an dem auch Luxemburg mit engagierten Comicvereinen und Kulturinstitutionen als Austragungsort beteiligt ist. Führende Verlage veröffentlichen exklusive Gratis-Mangahefte, die in teilnehmenden Buchhandlungen und Comicshops verteilt werden. Ziel ist es, neue Leserinnen und Leser für Manga zu begeistern, die Vielfalt des Mediums sichtbar zu machen und den stationären Handel zu stärken. Der Free Manga Day hat sich seit seiner Einführung als wichtiger Bestandteil der hiesigen Manga-Community etabliert und fördert den niedrigschwelligen Zugang zu japanischer Popkultur.

Free Manga Day is an annual awareness day within the German-language manga market, with Luxembourg also participating as a location alongside local comic associations and cultural institutions. Leading publishers release exclusive free manga samplers, which are distributed at participating bookstores and comic shops. The event aims to inspire new readers, highlight the diversity of the medium, and support local brick-and-mortar retail. Since its inception, Free Manga Day has established itself as an essential highlight for the local manga community, promoting accessible entry to Japanese pop culture.

Le Free Manga Day est une journée d'action annuelle dédiée au marché du manga dans l'espace germanophone, à laquelle le Luxembourg participe également comme lieu d'accueil, avec l'implication d'associations de BD et d'institutions culturelles locales. Les principaux éditeurs publient des livrets mangas gratuits et exclusifs, distribués dans les librairies et comic shops participants. L'objectif est d'éveiller la passion de nouveaux lecteurs pour le manga, de mettre en valeur la diversité du média et de soutenir le commerce de proximité. Depuis son lancement, le Free Manga Day s'est imposé comme un rendez-vous incontournable pour la communauté manga locale, facilitant l'accès à la culture pop japonaise.
