32nd edition of the BD Festival in Contern

The 32nd International Comic Festival in Contern will take place on 18 and 19 July 2026, serving once again as a central hub for enthusiasts and professionals of the "Ninth Art" under the patronage of the municipality of Contern and the ministries of culture and economy. Having established itself as a staple of the Luxembourgish cultural calendar over the past three decades, the festival acts as a vital bridge between the local scene and the international comic industry.

This year’s edition provides a platform for more than fifty international authors, including about ten from the Luxembourgish scene, with a curated range of publications covering everything from Franco-Belgian classics and contemporary fantasy to current manga trends.

A key highlight of the event is the appearance of comic legend Don Rosa, whose narrative contributions to the Disney universe are considered globally authoritative. Furthermore, British artist Mark Buckingham is invited as a guest of honor, having also created this year’s visually striking festival poster.

As the exchange between artists and the public remains central to the event, visitors can look forward to personal signing sessions, direct engagement with about 100 comic exhibitors representing the full breadth of the medium, and a diverse program featuring curated street entertainment, a thematic comic parade, and educationally oriented creative workshops designed for younger generations.
