Exciting news is unfolding across the Luxembourg comic scene. The long-out-of-print debut album "Dem Tintin séng Geschichten #001 - D'Affaire Ditchen" is officially receiving a second edition. The Luxembourgish translation of Hergé's classic "L'Affaire Tournesol" holds a truly unique place in the Grand Duchy's comic book history. Back in 1987, Imprimerie Saint-Paul and Zack Publications took the bold step of translating the Franco-Belgian masterpiece into Luxembourgish. The translation was crafted by Lex Roth, who brilliantly captured the humor and distinct character dynamics in the native tongue. Professor Calculus became Professor Ditchen, lending the adventures a unique local charm.
Over the decades, the 1987 original edition bearing the historic ISBN 2-87963-010-X grew into a highly sought-after collector's item at book fairs and antiquarian shops. Comic enthusiasts and scholars of Luxembourgish literature have long anticipated a reissue.
The recent listing at the Ernster bookstore confirms that the title is indeed being republished. Rather than using the historical publisher code, the album is listed under the new ISBN 978-2-919892-72-3 registered to Éditions Ernster. This official second edition makes the beloved work accessible once again to a new generation of readers. The official publication date is set for September 28, 2026, with store availability beginning October 10, 2026.
However, LUXBD raises the important question of whether Éditions Ernster intends to re-release only this opening volume or plans a comprehensive republication of all seven historical albums in the series. With no official confirmation available yet, the full scope of the initiative remains to be seen. We will keep you updated as further details regarding the publication plans emerge.
